Native American burial grounds are what Lake Shawnee Amusement Park stands upon in West Virginia. It hosted at least six fatal tragedies, becoming a famous American paranormal hotspot. Abandoned in 1988, some of its rides still stand. 🎡 #31DaysofDread #HorrorHistory

Stick Indians explain some sounds you hear in forests, per Native American folklore. It's the distant voice of someone you’re looking for, or a strange cry that doesn’t match an animal. Branches snap with nothing nearby. They lead people deeper in. #31DaysofDread #HorrorShorts #NativeAmerican

Movie 63 of 2024 - Terrifier 3 (2024)

I think this one is a slight step down from 2 but the Christmas setting is fun. I don’t love this series but I am fascinated by it and want to see where it goes and I’m starting to come around on Art the Clown.

Movie 62 of 2024 - Immaculate (2024)

Unhinged religious horror. Sweeney is great as the “chosen” nun and everyone else delivers solid performances ramping up to the fun finale. Don’t want to spoil anything but if you like religious horror, this is quite fun.

Movie 61 of 2024 - The Nun II (2023)

The first Nun movie was fine, it cleared my (admittedly low) bar for entertainment. The Nun II is just a slog. It’s worse in nearly every way. I do give it credit for having the devil toss kids around the room though.

Movie 60 of 2024 - Apartment 7A (2024)

This prequel to Rosemary’s Baby looks good and is well acted but it’s also extremely dull for the majority of the film (there are brief flashes of something interesting here bc and there) and extraordinarily unnecessary.

Movie 59 of 2024 - Oddity (2024)

Fascinating film that is consistently weird and unsettling although not particularly scary. It takes a while to reveal what it’s truly going for but it’s wholly satisfying the entire time.

Movie 58 of 2024 - 10/31 (2017)

I’ve watched a lot of low budget horror and I’ve seen much worse than this anthology. The short film format works really well and while there is at least one stinker in the bunch, they are mostly entertaining enough.

Movie 57 of 2024 - V/H/S/Beyond (2024)

Maybe the alien theme didn’t work for me or something but this is the first V/H/S where I didn’t love at least one of the shorts. They’re not bad but not super memorable either.

Movie 56 of 2024 - Salem’s Lot (2024)

This feels like a B grade movie from the 80s. Presentation, acting, everything just feels like it’s of that era and honestly it’s a bit charming. It’s not particularly good but I found it fun enough.

Movie 55 of 2024 - Azrael (2024)

This gory, violent post apocalyptic horror tale with religious cults and burned cannibals is presented almost entirely without dialogue and yet, you’ll easily piece together most of what’s going on.

Movie 54 of 2024 - Arcadian (2024)

It’s a decent enough A Quiet Place knock-off but with Nic Cage as the dad instead of John Krasinski and no Emily Blunt. The monster designs and behaviors are awesome though so there’s that.
