Nothing plug and play unfortunately. For main viewer development the front-runners I've seen are probably 3DHop and Smithsonian Voyager. There's documentation out there for them, but definitely not super approachable. Leaning towards trying to adapt Voyager currently.

Henrik Jansson on building the online database and its search interface. It's a combination of #OmekaS for collection management, #3DHOP for showcasing the 3D models and Linux for storage. #OpenSource was important criteria.

Another viable solution for publishing "heavy" 3D models efficiently and simply on the web is the #3DHop framework that relies on the open source nexus multiresolution streaming 3D engine 3dhop.net
It handles hi-res 3D models (100Mtris) also on low-bandwidth, on plain web server.
