#3Waters
It's good to see the dirty politics/PR attack machine's anti-3Waters campaign called out as the misleading racist, naked money-grubbing BS exercise it was.

I haven't read Nicky Hager's book 'Dirty Work' yet, but that definitely gels.

Meanwhile cities are faced with huge managed,or chaotic, retreat costs, not to mention massive 3waters renewal, in a system that, unless it produces a profit for the private sector, will do nothing of the sort
I live on 4Ha over Bombay Hill, I have watched it coming for me for 14 years, it's suicide

3Waters and Labours inability to message it positively and push the facts over nationals racism has burned them so so badly
August 25, 2026 at 11:10 PM
Some of the key demographic for the Nats old white racists have worked out that trashing 3Waters hasn't been the cheapest option after all.

I dont get it

3waters was bad because centralisation and amalgamating all the work under 1 body = bad

But now its amalgamate it all under a few bodies = good?

I guess thats why we need RONs! They've replaced 3waters!
Every day another WTAF story about how crappy life has become under this Government.

While I think this sux and I feel for the ratepayers, esp any pensioner who may potentially lose their whare, I do wonder how many raged and voted against 3waters.

Stunned Waitaki District ratepayers are calling for a government probe of council's finances, with some worried people will lose their homes.

Grant Robertson got higher ratings, Willis trashed it
National were warned this would happen if they repealed #3Waters & forced Councils to take on more debt, & kept borrowing for "tax cuts" & landlords

Heres another reminder that this govt used racist "anti co-governance" talking points to make kiwis vote against 3Waters in 2023 and now as a result we all have to pay for higher rates and a more expensive water plan. Racist bullshit is literally costing the taxpayer billions.
April 19, 2026 at 2:17 AM
It's not the only option you fuckwit.

Stop promising low rates and taxes to the rich and invest in your infrastructure. I imagine when you lose your "prestine" reputation and tourists stop coming to feed your rich you'll be begging for a handout. #nzpol

You killed #3Waters so this is on you!

One wonders then why dont they fix the problem, or replace it pronto. this political hand wringing nonsense cos noone wants to do anything, apart from be anti -3Waters

The Infrastructure Commission report is an extended critique of the current govt policy. 1. IC wants incr hospital spending, Govt cut it. 2. IC want investment in water infra, Govt cut 3waters which did this.
February 17, 2026 at 7:24 PM
Budgeted for this = canceling $6bn climate resilience fund

Infra not being political = canceling iRex and politicizing 3waters to the max

I've not seen this level of gaslighting in NZ for a while

National won by stoking fear using false, bigoted threats and TPU propaganda about co-governance and 3Waters

3Waters was agreed to by many councils & communicated as "a centralised system in which larger rating bases cross-subsidised smaller ones lifting water management quality across the board"
We need a lot more of the kind of reflections that Justin Tipa and Luke Malpass offered this weekend- time to come together to solve these difficult collective problems NZ faces rather than point scoring on social media (note to myself as well!) www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3609...
New Zealand’s crisis is political, not just plumbing
OPINION: The failure of sewage systems is symbolic: the choices not to spend on long-term problems, in favour of borrowing up to chase short-term votes.

Finance Minister Willis won't be very pleased with the latest fiscal hole.

Maybe writing off the $1.2 billion previously spent on Affordable Waters (aka 3Waters) under urgency isn't a great example of the fiscal responsibility the Coalition keeps mentioning
All because a tiny minority of grave dancers didn’t like Māori having their contractual rights honoured. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again; Racism is an expensive business. 🙄 #nzpol #OneTermGovernment

I'd add
- repelling Acts with no clear replacement (Pae Ora, 3Waters, Te Pukenga etc)
- Bills that the majority party of the Coalition said wouldn't proceed - but a minority Coalition member insisted on
- Stopping and starting infrastructure (housing, school maintenance and builds)
