LLMs aren't conscious, so your test is irrelevant to the question. Artists should be paid when a corporation rips it off and starts creating with it. If 3CPO started selling art on behalf of a corporation that ripped off a human artist, the human artist should get paid for it.

like sure *if* 3cpo existed. but 3cpo is a fictional robot that's sentient in the fiction of the universe, and I don't believe such a thing could come to exist. in the same way, I don't think dragons could suddenly become real so I dont think about the ethics of a dragon burning my house down
