#400Mbps
i don't need 400mbps of download speed if im gonna be handed fucking ONE mbps upload this is such bullshit
November 2, 2026 at 4:53 PM
just swapped over the internet, the speeds are a bit wonky but I attribute that to wifi 7 and 6Ghz issues.
we have full bars of 5g service there it's placed so it should be blistering fast.

5g internet is wild
what do you mean the gateway has a phone number I can't use, what do you mean I'm getting over 400mbps out my front window with no wires
23 up isnt' the best but it's still not bad.

I'm guessing that whoever Rutgers is quoting actually said something like 400 megabits/sec or some other network-type speed instead of distance/time :-)

(Starlink max speed is 400Mbps, typical user gets 45-280 in practice.)

I say this because on Monday they finally upgraded systems to actually provide the speeds they sell my neighbors and myself. For many years they have claimed they sell me and the neighborhood 400mbps down and 10 up while actually giving us 300m/4m.

Let's hope that other rivals emerge quickly so that Elon and Trump can be ignored more easily:

Amazon Leo tops 400Mbps in test, targets Starlink market
Amazon recently demonstrated its low Earth orbit communications satellite network, Amazon Leo, at a test site in Aberdeen, Maryland, testing high-speed connectivity in a tactical environment with the US Army. During the demonstration, a notebook transmitted data through a ground-based Leo Pro antenna, with peak download speeds exceeding 400Mbps as the satellite passed overhead, signaling Amazon’s push to challenge SpaceX’s Starlink in the satellite broadband market.

I wouldn't even use it if they paid me every month to use his service. Why would anyone pay 150-250$ for the crap hardware and then 55-130$ a month for shit speeds of only 100-400mbps on a good day probably early in the morning. Severely overpriced and almost unusable internet speeds. Pure Crap.

but slower in speed. to illustrate:
old plan - 2000php - ~600mbps
new plan - 1600php - ~400mbps - free installation

400 pesos a month is no joke. that's like one good sized plushie a month lol

anyway, the dip in speed probably won't be too harsh because i don't have to share with others anymore

With WiFi 6 that's not really necessary now. Even though I'm using Power line here, since getting a 6 router I can get 400mbps on WiFi. It used to be single figures

Yeah, I suspect this too, lots of people claiming VD can do 800mbps streams, but in ever other streamer the Quest 3 breaks down at 400mbps almost exactly. Maybe VD is doing some kind of delta compression between eyes or something to get a perceived near doubling in bitrate?

New router is a beast, get a full 1 gbps to the desktop, and over wifi between 400mbps and 700mbps depending on device. Quite impressed.
Me doing a bit of troubleshooting after: "Wait a sec, why am I only getting 100mbps still...? Oh. It's because my router is from 2011."

Gonna fix that today. :)
So, I got Hawaiian Tel 1 gig fiber installed at our place today...I know nowadays 1 gig is commonplace but realize that when I got into computers, the 28.8 Modem was cutting edge speed and we all gasped when we got the new 56K models.

they've been "adding" more speed lately, my bill went up 20 bucks and i got a notice now my Internet is now 400Mbps, thanks i hate it. I'm paying 100 bucks for just Internet now, sadly FiOS will likely never come down my street so I'm stuck.
