When I started on 4EVO, I was on a PS2 pad for a good few years and held up pretty good. The default macros for the shoulder buttons also help a great deal.

Right. When I saw Akira slump to the ground after the zoom in, it had that kind of effect I liken to when you see a clean knockout in an MMA fight.
Funny enough, one particular animation from 4EVO really pulled this effect off back then.

Not entirely. I knew friend who I played 4EVO with years back on PS2 and was able to play most of the cast pretty well. He was able to do the Akira's knee on the few instances he needed to since he held the pad claw style.

Back when I started in 4EVO in the 2000s, I managed fine on a PS2 pad (w/ default macro settings) and I knew a friend who played on pad holding it claw style and he was one of the stronger players, so it's for sure doable. Depends on the pad itself, I'd say.

I never gave it much thought as I didn't do fighting games online as much as most and VF5 REVO setup actually kinda resembles how we did our 4EVO locals many years ago, so feels kinda normal for me. But, I do think for just two people who want to run long sets, unlimited would be nice to have.

EarthBound is my favorite video game. There's a lot I love about it.
One thing I love is the fact that you get a bike. And you ride that bike for only ten seconds, because as soon as you get a partner, you can't use it. It's hilarious.
