I’ve hated August for years — and Hurricane Katrina is the primary reason for that. A stolen childhood, repeated traumas, and a city that has never been the same. I miss the New Orleans I grew up in, but I love it 504Ever.

The waterline was way up high up to there, but we are #504ever and still here. I’m a native New Orleanian and would be outraged if anyone tries to 'sugar-coat' the aftermath of Katrina or any other part of history, and that includes slavery. The truth is always what needs to be taught.
