The Work Ain’t Easy
Liberation isn’t light.
It doesn’t float on air
as a rainbow balloon
it’s a heavy thing
an iron gate
shoved open
chains axed
in the dark.
It’s not a
singular moment
but a thousand
stories; built
of courage
of empathy
of a collective.

Just reread a chapter and realised my characters basically teleported out of danger thanks to plot armour. Time for a rewrite.

Sharing this one with the #5amWritersClub because that book is still there, man, and it's too weird a story not to tell again

So I've got a story that I doubt any other author has experienced.
It involves a book sequel, a Little Lending Library, and inflatable Thanksgiving decorations.
Read on, dear reader...

No matter how much you plot and plan, your imagination will sometimes reward you with fantastic little insights.
Had a few of these this week already.
No idea why anyone would give that dopamine rush over to a glorified calculator.

Finished my reread of the Harry Potter series this morning. The story and the books remain great reads some 20-30 years later. A shame we'll never know who wrote them.

I believe every serious writer has a project or two they think is beyond their current skill set. For me, I've got "Crock: An American Fairytale" and "The Mountain." Nowhere near ready to tackle either.
What about you?

Getting to work on typing up the 300+ handwritten pages of a novel I started years ago. It's a Herculean task, spread across several notebooks and lots of loose leaf, but I'm digging in!
