Igår vid läggdags bröt 6yo ihop. Hon ba "Jag tänker på krig." Sen pratade vi lite om krig och sen ville hon åka till Ryssland och "brottas". Hon: "Men vi behöver svärd. Och pepparsprej."

Incredible that folks thought 6yo anti-police tweets—posted in the midst of a months-long campaign of tear-gassing neighborhoods and giving cover to Proud Boys—would be *a net negative* for Mitch in this political environment.

When my mum had to tell 6yo me that the wibbly undercooked egg white I didn’t like was not, in fact, called “protoplasm”
QUESTION OF THE DAY:

This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t.

If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious.

When did you first realize you were weird?

To the great frustration of economists who see gains in other sectors, human development remains resistant to our appeals to efficiency.

It's the cost disease haunting education: despite paying teachers more each year, it still takes 365 days for a 6yo to become 7!
Fundamentally, teaching humans is activity that requires high amounts of human labor per student and that is a real problem for people who are annoyed at the concept of paying for human labor.
In case you’re wondering what the geniuses behind Alpha School & AEI’s Classroom Practice Project. Carl has been & continues to be an influential voice in the #ScienceOfLearning™️ movement. This is what’s coming for K-16.

My 6yo was “emotional, doesn’t follow directions, self directed, distracting to peers” until she got a diagnosis, now she is being given support at school. Her peers still say mean things; they’re kids and kids can be jerks. But, she is doing better in school because she has more classroom support.

I’ve made multiple educational games for my 6yo despite never having written a line of code in my life basically. And a website to host them so she can play them on her iPad.

And, like, they work and she loves them! So that’s one baseline for me when people are like “these things don’t work” lol.
