Slashie thinks #roguelikes are still very cool, even after all these years. Did you get your @roguelike.club tickets already at roguelike.club ?

If you don't wanna use AI, i'd hope you could find non-ai jams on Itch.

I suspect the 7DRL, for example, is going to be fairly against AI.

But at the same time... Someone who simply tells an LLM to produce a game will always wind up with a perfectly functional game.

Like Oatmeal. Perfectly

Updated my old 7DRL game! Added a bunch of QoL features to it, a brand new enemy, plus added a web build so you don't have to download it! Go check it out tankprogramming.itch.io/buckshot-blast #gamedev

adding a web build to an old 7DRL is smart, that's usually the biggest killer for jam-game playtests. did the new enemy come from player feedback or was it already planned?

admittedly a bit late into the event to offer it up, but if you're participating in 7DRL, feel free to use any songs you want from Omen/Constance in your project, just don't charge for it. same also goes for Nomad/Virtue, though I imagine that one's got less you'd use for a roguelike lol

on the whole, I think most people severely overestimate the scope of the average roguelike because the ones people talk about are the ones wide enough in scope to be played for years. admittedly that's bound to be a bit skewed by the fact, by sheer volume, 7DRL projects probably make up the majority

7DRL seems to be handling it ok?

Don’t forget to check in on and support everyone doing the #7drl this year.

I think the days of me officially participating in 7DRL is over, but I may carry over some techniques for general game development.

One bad habit I developed was making everything as one game loop. Which is apparently not even a requirement in compiling source.

Of course it's by the Genius brlka... I should've made a 7drl...

Long time no post ! I attempted the recent 7drl jam using my scripting language, and the compiler blew up in my face, so i decided to re-write the whole language. That's what I've been up to this past month... 🧵

oh the results from 7DRL game jam I did in March were tabulated. I'm pretty happy with Rogue Type's results! (There were 190 entries)

Excited to get back to Delve development after #7DRL and (a bunch of prep work leading up to 7DRL) #roguelikedev

Alright, I have a few hours left but I think I'm too sleepy to make any more progress so we're calling this game jam a wrap! I've uploaded my last build to itch.io and unless there's a serious bug I won't do any updates while evaluation is going on. #7drl

Got the colour tile puzzle for rogue type working! (The state is generated by starting with a goal state and working several moves backwards) #7drl

I have created the itch page for rogue type!

I don't think it's a fun game yet and I'll be working on it through tomorrow, but the page at least proves that I typed a lot of code this week...
