I wasn't going to sell this one since it's so minimal; but in all honesty, in some ways, it's my best zine. So, check out my shop for a very inexpensive mini zine about my inability to find words when I want them.

A small zine held in someone's hand. The words read: "Fabulous (?) Words - (that aren't words but I couldn't think of the real one so I did my best but now this happened)" Two pages of a small zine, with illustrations. One is labeled "Egg House (nest)" and the other is "Hands Boots (gloves)" The back page of a small zine. The text reads: "I have trouble thinking of words, so my brain gives me its "next best" attempt. A few of the best/worst are chronicled in blazing monochrome in this zine." collage zine. background of leather jacket. Left to right: clipping from a fringe festival listing showing something LGBTQ themed, with someone covered in blood and smiling. Clippings from a warning saying "references to sexual violence and emotional abuse". The word "whore" cut out from a promo flyer. The legs of someone wearing a short kilt with a sporran and fishnets A feminine person wearing a sparkly bra and gloves trimmed with feathers is cut out with the words "filth and pop" on their arm, and the word "king" pasted over their face. There's a masculine person in a leather cap and vest with a mustache, with the words "mommy's a son" over their face. Above this are the words, "am I gross?" Purple background with plant patterns. Two images of the same person from different angles, wearing heavy eyeshadow and lipstick. Across the centre in large font is the word "counter-culture". The words "Euphoric" and "fabulous, glamorous," are underneath. Above is a composite, edited to say, "adopted by a semi-famous porn star" Background is half purple, half empty crossword puzzle. The word "camp" is large across the top. The word "flower" is smaller below, amongst the crossword. There's a photo of a masculine person with a moustache smiling at the camera as another masculine person with stubble kisses their neck. Over their faces is text from a warning reading, "content warnings: strong language, scenes of a sexual nature, discussion of drug and alcohol use." The content warning loops over onto the first page

You Love Our City. (🧵1/2)
Happy last week of the Edinburgh Festivals to all who celebrate! I'm looking forward to being able to use the only lift in Waverley station that leads to Market street again.

front page of a zine called 'you love our city'. the background of all pages is a folded map from the edinburgh fringe brochure. there's a cutout of a scottish flag, and a scrap from a magazine saying 'august 2025' You love our city. I guide you to the right floor, to the cabs, use maps to guide you to your hotel. Unpaid. Sometimes, you say thank you. You don't love carrying your litter to the bin. I know. It's hard. They aren't on every single corner. It's a burden. Sometimes you apologise when you clip my cane. Sometimes you say sorry when you shove me out the way. Sometimes you look guilty when I have to walk in the gutter. Sometimes. image: scraps from the film festival & international book festival text: You love our city. I step aside for your suitcases. When you them on escalators & they fall, I catch them. Otherwise I will be hurt. Everyone will be hurt. But not you. You love our city. Is your camera bursting with photos of the rot and the backstreets? Has it seen the graffiti by locals trying to reclaim their space? Or is it just the castle and the Wallace monument? image: scrap of paper of two people wearing kilts, and a scrap of advert that says 'culture'.

Got a complicated relationship with the whole concept so here we go
https://loraysmusic.bandcamp.com/track/freak
#DiyZine #zines #minizines #8pagezine #zine #queerart #zinester 📒🦋
I was a freak. I know because everyone told me so. They said I didn't fit in, the way I dressed & the way I spoke & the way I liked things too much But I left school, as we all do if we survive long enough, & met new people. they didn't know I wasn't cool. So was cool not an inherent quality? I found ppl who thought I was cool. maybe online cool isn't really cool but it was a taster. They didn't even care when I was a freak Nobody told me cool was fragile. It seemed intrinsic. Inalienable If I changed even a single atom of who I was, would it shatter like glass? If I was being watched & judged at all times, what if I slipped? "I thought u were cool." Cutting. Devastating. U say the wrong thing & your status is revoked. Rub off the shoddy paint job, find the freak beneath I withdrew entirely from society for a while. Cool doesnt matter when it's just u & ur 4 walls I escaped eventually. gave up impressing folk. Easier 2 exist if it's just me & my fellow freaks Idk when people started thinking I was cool when I wasn't trying. I'm being a freak on purpose bc that's what I am & what I've always been It's alluring, but it's a double edged sword. I've started to parry If I chase cool & accept cool as currency then I have to live up to others expectations If I make myself cool for 4 myself I don't need validation I'm not cool. I'm a freak If you think I'm cool, that's ur business. I will not adapt myself to continue to win ur approval I'm thru being cool For all the people I used to be, and all the freaks being who makes them happy. Surviving the Present. (1/2)
this was my first zine, from 2017. i hate that it's still relevant.
#zines #minizines #8pagezine #zine #activism #selfcare #selfpreservation #community
front page of a zine called 'surviving the present'. image: a side-profile of a wolf bearing its teeth background images throughout are abstract black and white photos right now things are scary if you're not rich, white, straight, cis, male or christian/atheist. (even then - jeez) our idols are dead & our enemies are in power do you feel powerless? afraid? sick? yeah. same but if you're reading this right now, you're alive, & you gotta stay that way no matter what this isn't about how to win or protest or fight back. other people can tell you how to do that better. this is about survival. not succumbing to the misery & being prepared in case things get worse so how do we survive the next 4 to 8 to 20 years? stubbornness and solidarity. no matter what else is said, you are valuable and deserve life, safety, respect, privacy. if nothing else, stay alive just to spite them. be there for other people. if you stand up against injustices against others, they'll still be there to stand up for you. quote: then they came for the jews, and i did not speak out - because i was not a jew. then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me. -martin miemöller

(1/2) thinking about the art of reclaiming slurs; how many things have changed in 40ish generations, and how many things stayed the same.
i may have been called ergi then much as i am called contemporary slurs today.

front page of a zine called 'ergi', with runes decorating it scold me all you like, i will not duel you for speaking the truth. i require no compensation, there has occurred no defamation. i stand proud of my seiðr, my magic, threads and futures, seer, witch, weaver. with every stitch and every candle, every sigil and every word, i gain power, and i know that is feared. a niðing; a villain, i have murdered my past self, i killed them with what is called poison, and to me is akin to Iðunn's apples. i've been told this is why i am a niðing; ill, mentally, physically, and if that is the price i had to pay, i came out in the black, my madness heals me, my pain the only downside, but i am loved still, and i harness it, a tool to spread understanding, another type of witchcraft. ragr, yes, my practise done dressed effeminate, my life lived in whichever clothes i choose, shedding the boundaries, needless, constricting. argr, too, cowardice if you can call it that, i will not fight for wars that do not speak for me, but i will stand tall and i will speak, i will challenge your sense of normalcy, and i will hold the hands of those afraid, help them speak their truth. if that does not meet your standards of bravery, so be it.

don't listen to anyone who tells you that you're overreacting. express your emotions. bottling them = molotov cocktail (& it's only gonna blow up in YOUR face). take time offline. no, more than that. more social media sucks your time & barrages you with more info than you need this is twitter. this is facebook. this is tumblr. this is reddit. this is everywhere you encounter other people don't delete unless you really want to. there's still value in being connected. but log RIGHT off more often save money, but treat yrself occasionally have things 2 look forward 2 try buy local & 2nd hand reduce/reuse/recycle dont fund ppl who r already filthy rich if u can help it buy things that last not disposable crap & u rly want not things u r bein told u need & buy cans of spare food if u have cash 2 spare try gardening. grow ur own veg learn basic first aid print how-2s read abt water purification grab a couple survival books if nothing else, u'll not be as worried abt potential disasters get involved in your community join groups volunteer if people know u & like u they won't want you harmed. it's good for your mental health to connect with people even if you're socially anxious. especially then love ur friends like u love ur family, but set limits with every 1. tell them what u can & can't do look after people, but don't get so bogged down with every 1 else's troubles that you drown urself it's a tricky balance. you're not gonna get it right immediately. but you'll get there. don't waste your time on stuff that doesn't make you happy or healthy or a better person. time is limited for us all. if something sucks and makes you sad and doesn't make you any better for it, stop doing it. look after your health - mental, physical, social, spiritual, and financial - as much as you can. make it a priority. quote: On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. You love our city You love to stop me on the street to take photos without asking. Why wouldn't u? U think I'm a performer, an attraction, just because I'm not in jeans and a t-shirt. A man in a skirt has to be a spectacle You're uncomfortable seeing people living on the streets. I get it. I know at least a dozen people stuck in homeless accommodation for months bc landlords earn more bleeding you dry for your Airbnb than housing locals. So I'm uncomfortable 2 image: ad for a harry potter show text: But you love our city. I want you to have a good time. And I want you to love the locals as much as the ancestors and architecture. image: scrap of an ad for something supported by edinburgh city council, creative scotland, and the scottish government
