MX-5s are probably my most-driven car too. Owned three, and on a quick count, driven somewhere between 15-20 more. Plus seven or eight R35 Nissan GT-Rs and probably a similar number of Alpine A110s.
I have driven so many Miatas.

Don't get me wrong there's been some nice artwork and I liked the somewhat adjacent special edition Alpine A110s from a few years back, but the hype's getting a bit silly. You can't ａｅｓｔｈｅｔｉｃ your way into a great Grand Prix.

May have a Solido 1:43 one somewhere. I remember finding a classic car mag in France circa 1998 which was devoted to Alpines and hot Renaults, then finding the piles of diecast cars in hypermarches included A110s, whatever the long tail variant raced at Le Mans was called, A310s, possibly others...

I learned recently that there was consideration for a Nissan to be built on the Alpine A110s chassis, but they dropped it cause apparently “Nissan doesn’t do midengine cars” 🤬

Depends on the car. Driven lots of Alpine A110s now and never missed a manual in those. I'm sure it'd be great with one, but it certainly doesn't make me throw up my hands and say "might as well be an EV then" or whatever.

There's definitely a happy balance in there somewhere. A110s aren't everywhere, but I'd be quite confident that Renault has still done okay from it - it'll make more money from flogging Clios, but I bet the A110 has done exactly what Renault needed it to do, financially.

途中で乗り換えたやつはFMには収録されてなかったんだけど、調べたら基本はA110のままで、コース毎に足りない部分を違うバージョンで乗り換えて補ってたみたいね。芦ノ湖だと低速だからA110がぴったりはまる。真鶴だと高速域があるのでパワーが足りない。そこで高速主体のシーサイドで、出力が少し高いA110Sに乗り換えた。熱海ではパワーそのままで軽量化したA110Rでテクニカルコースを駆け抜けたという感じ。

Had pretty much the inverse of that with our 1967 A110S; eternally grateul I'd not refitted the front airdam the day I left the circuit at an altitude of 13' via the spectator banking. The natural boat-hull shape of the shell helped me take off; dread to think what'd have happened had it dug in...

A Spanish build Alpine A110S; licensed rather than homolgation, so a very different kettle of fish, but I imagine Dieppe will have done some homologation stuff for rally (and possibley for Le Mans too?) I know the works cars were a lightly different breed to standard customer cars.

Ever wonder why you don't see Ford Fiesta STs, Cupra Leons or Alpine A110s on the roads of New York or LA? It's not because North American enthusiasts wouldn't welcome them. It's because automakers recognize there is no business case at meeting NA regulations for a relatively tiny volume of cars.
