This actually reminds me of that "racing drone" nonsense where the subsequent AAIB investigation found the "kill switch" sitting on a bench a hundred miles away and not, eg, in the machine that departed at high speed for the Isle of Wight

Improper Pin Install, Strap Entanglement Caused Fatal T-6A Accidental Ejection

The AAIB found the seat’s safety pin was not fully installed and the previously disconnected harness chest strap caught on and inadvertently actuated the seat's handle.
