After years of periodically looking online, I purchased a first edition 1899 copy of The Conjure Woman, by Charles Chesnutt (one of my favorite #19century authors). Bonus purchase was this 1973 illustrated adaptation.

Actually Deepseek is able to check the letters behind the tokens in a Deepthink-mode. Here's a part of it's "thought process", where it *almost* gets the reversed sentence correct, and concludes that it doesn't work. 😀
Deepseekin pohdintaa: Let me make sure the sentence is a palindrome. For example, "Aivot avaavat oivaa tilaa." Wait, no. Maybe "En ota omenaa, aamen, aamen, aamen, aamen. Ota ne, ota ne!" Doesn't work. Maybe "Aivot avaavat oivaa tilaa" reversed is "Aalit aavio tavaa votia," which isn't the same. Hmm. Maybe a shorter one: "Anna ajaja Anna." Reversed: "AnnA ajaja annA." That works. "Anna ajaja Anna" means "Anna, the driver, Anna." It's a valid palindrome. So I can offer both the classic word and a sentence example. Let me confirm the sentence's correctness. Yes, "Anna ajaja Anna" reads the same backward. Great. I'll present both options and explain their meanings to the user.
