Alberta projects a $9.4B deficit in 2026-27. In the '90s, Premier Ralph Klein trimmed program expenses ~21% and turned a $3.4B deficit into a $1.1B surplus. He asked each department to present 20% to 40% cut scenarios. The Smith #UCP government needs the Klein approach. #ABpoli #ABbudget

What's also amazing is that the total cost of the UCP billion $$ boondoggles seems to roughly equal our new deficit.

The UCP is finally paying their property taxes.

Lots of issues with the #abbudget but after Kenney unilaterally slashed the province's property taxes in half in 2020, it is very good news that cities are getting full value again

We're not getting the $100M+ in backtaxes though.

Alberta Budget was released today and here's the highlights related to Film and TV.

"Total expense in 2026-27 is $422 million, a decrease of $38 million or
8 per cent from the 2025-26 forecast, primarily from a $35 million reduction
to the FTTC"
