Arrived in Las Vegas today for the ACBL Nationals. Went to register for my room at the New York, New York hotel at 1:45 p.m. Was told that my room wasn’t ready. But I could have a room now if I wanted to upgrade my room. Not the best first impression

This actually happened to me on a cruise once. I saw a bunch of older Chinese women playing Hong Kong mahjong and asked to learn. They straight up told me "no. Too hard."
I was offended, because at the time I was crushing ACBL Bridge on the ship. But they were right. Mahjong needs months to learn.

I have a family friend who is a 70-something Chinese woman who plays regularly and has a cool set and table and everything, and I asked if I could learn and join sometime, and she said no and told me to download a mahjong app

paying around $150 a month for medical insurance through my job, I worked for ACBL at the time, then afterward the ACA was created my insurance started to go up, when I was diagnosed with MS, I was paying close to $600 a month for medical coverage.
