I'm stunned and disappointed to see the shuttering of yet another piece of public religious studies scholarship. #acrel #amrel #aarsbl #sblaar
After careful consideration, the American Academy of Religion has decided that Reading Religion will cease operations on May 31, 2026.

Reviews will continue through May, after which the site will become a public archive.

With gratitude.

I enjoyed participating in this conference back in the day. For #AcRel scholars and teachings, the videos include one of the session on African American religious history.

I am biased as her advisor, but Kim Akano's dissertation and DH work (the latter supported by our wonderful @princetoncdh.bsky.social) are fascinating and will add so much to our understanding of the role of religion in African American and African connections. #AcRel
Read Crossroads Project Graduate Fellow Kim Akano's article about her work mapping Horace Mann Bond's collection of information about African students in HBCUs. The project is related to her dissertation on "the religious, racial, and political formation of African students in the US" in the 20thC.
