El Tomate de Mar (Actinia equina) es una anémona del grupo de los Cnidarios - Hexacorales.
Su nombre de debe a que cuando baja la marea y queda fuera del agua y en las horas de más luz esconde sus más de 200 tentáculos en forma de bola roja.

A Strawberry Anemone (Actinia fragacea) closed up and holding seawater inside until the tide returns. And a Snakelocks anemone (Anemonia viridis) which doesn't have this ability so must remain in rockpools during lowtide.

Found some colourful anemones during a rock pooling session in Wembury. Think we got a Beadlet anemone , Actinia equina, a Gem anemone , Aulactinia verrucosa, together with a Daisy anemone , Cereus pedunculatus, a Snakelocks anemone , Anemonia viridis, and a Strawberry anemone , Actinia fragacea.

Beadlet (Actinia equina) is most common British intertidal #anemone. It can fully enclose in its column, so it's tolerant of exposure at low tide. It's usually vivid red, but occasionally other lovely colours. Abundant in Scottish #rockpools I explored on holiday: some nice examples below.
