PhD candidate, Delaram Golpayegan (TCD), presents a research poster on 'AIRO: An Ontology for Representing AI Risks Based on EU’s AI Act and ISO 31000 Family of Standards'. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) can involve critical risks as shown by multiple cases where AI has negatively affected health, safety and fundamental rights of people. AI risk management aims to minimise this risk by considering the potential negative impacts that an AI system might have on businesses, as well as individuals, groups and society. In this presentation, they introduce the AI Risk Ontology (AIRO) for expressing information associated with (AI) risk management based on the requirements of the EU’s AI Act proposal and ISO 31000 series of standards. AIRO assists stakeholders in determining ‘high-risk’ AI systems, maintaining and documenting risk information, performing impact assessments, and achieving conformity with AI regulations.
