I was bored so I just did a lovely remote adb session on my tv to debloat it and change the default launcher to something sane, and it's incredible how much more usable this thing became

Oh I finally found the proper commands to deeplink media on the Android TV Jellyfin app! And I also found the adb commands for play and play/pause.
So now I can ask the #HomeAssistant voice to play a specific movie or show and it will load it up and play it.

Sony Android TVs are great fun because you can just ADB shell into them and start deleting system packages willy nilly. Here's some that I delete:

My Sony TV was getting slow, and I was able to turn on developer mode and use adb to find bad behaving apps and uninstall them. Recommended!

Power on/off the TV and the stuff connected to it from HA.
TL;DR: I _finally_ figured out the exact ADB command sequence to replicate the non-trivial power action for Fire TV.

I have it (Smart Tube) on both my Shield and CCforGTV. Sideloading onto Android TV devices doesn't require root, just wireless adb.

Being able to tell an agent please remove the ad/spyware launcher from my smart TV and install this opensouce one is so nice. Yes I can look up the adb commands but it is gonna be 4 hours of trial and error.

Made my smart TV into a dumb TV.
Android-tools via homebrew, adb connect
And then removed all the bloatware packages.
It’s finally a monitor now that can do HDMI-CEC and supports eARC.

Finally figured out how to adb/scrcpy to my Android TV Chromecast (need a hub that can power it and communicate with one cable) and was gonna upcycle it into a little portable emulation system, but ofc when I try to install Emulation Station-DE it just yells "App not installed" like thanks very...
