So much career advice boils down to "be more neurotypical," which isn't great advice unless you happen to be neurotypical.

If you've been "unable to follow advice" for years, & all you've felt is shame at not hacking it, I invite you to ponder whether the advice is just not right for you. #ADHData

Up late hyper-focusing on editing 3D parts because WHY NOT be running on not-enough-sleep tomorrow morning while live coding on the internet?! Love this for me ✨ #ADHData

There is no more productive time for me than after folks have gone to bed. I can work without interruption, no pings, no meetings to prep/debrief, nothing. But I do need some help getting there. My #ADHD brain often needs body-doubling in order to sort of co-regulate into focus-mode #ADHData #databs

As an easily-overstimulated person, one of the biggest improvements to my everyday life, work life, and marriage has been: being a headphones-only household + noise cancelling earbuds 😌

Watching TV? Headphones. Listening to music? Podcast? Call? Headphones! My house is silent at all times 🍃#ADHData

Anyone else do their hobbies late at night as a form of self-punishment because they worked all day 😂

I finished my work tasks at 12am. 1am is late enough to be done with hobby time, I think. Goodnight, fabric. Goodnight thread. #ADHData

I got some questions about how I use my chess timer, and a video is just easier, so here you go!

Also, it's been nice to see the overlap between my #ADHD crowd and my #databs crowd. I keep using the #ADHData hashtag to include both, and I hope others will use it, too!

#ADHData POV: I've worked too many hours already this week, but feel convinced I've done almost nothing 🙏🏻 Love this for me!

Writing down what I've done helps, but that becomes impossible while living in reaction mode. Every slack DM includes a bevy of new tasks to drop the ball on. #databs

The foolhardy #ADHD desire to dig yourself out of a hole and fix your entire life by getting EVERYTHING you're behind on done in one day

Liz Lemon's 'I Can Have It All' Moment (30 Rock)
Alt: Liz Lemon's 'I Can Have It All' Moment from the show 30 Rock. She screams, "I can do it! I CAN have it all" while shoving an entire sandwich in her mouth before going through security in an airport

#ADHData - trouble starting a task:
Tool 1: For me, action begets action. If struggling to start a task (common for me), pretty much any body/brain momentum I can build helps me start, even if unrelated to my target task. Procrastivity? Yes.

Is complaining about the time change too cliche? It's really messing with me (and countless other #ADHData people, too, I'm betting). I will be off-my-game until further notice. Can't wait to add jet lag to this in a couple of weeks 😅

Today is one of those days where I have stuff I need to do & it's stuff my ADHD brain can't latch onto, so I'm running through every tool in my toolbox to see how I can still make it happen. Love this for me, doing 10x the work for the same output. Hug an #ADHData person today, they're tired AF

My #ADHD brain doesn't feel time, so I capture it with a chess clock.

Player 1 on the left is "off the clock" & Player 2 on the right is "on the clock" - clearly my cat stickers are resting/playing vs business mode 🥹

Caveat: this only helps if I actually remember to press the buttons 😭 #ADHData

My husband produces a lot of instructional videos. My toxic #ADHData trait is telling him how inaccessible all of his videos are when he shows them to me 😂

The flashing text, the rapid transitions, the blinking lights, the random animations moving on the screen at all times, I cannnn't.
