Afrikaners were subject to borderline genocidal warfare by the British within living memory of the establishment of the apartheid regime.
"But South Africa" I'm going to stop you right there. Afrikaner South Africans were a minority in their own country. Without support from Europe and the West they were doomed, as Rhodesia conclusively proved. And they were culturally European with no significant history of oppression in their past.
