Vice President Spiro T. Agnew resigned OTD in 1973 after being charged with income tax evasion.

Fortunately the Nixon administration never again had any issues with corruption and led with honesty and transparency until the successful conclusion of Nixon’s second term. Right?

Several people who worked in the Nixon Administration called these allegations, “absurd.”

In his disparaging obituary of Richard Nixon, the writer Hunter S. Thompson described Spiro Agnew as, “a flat-out, knee-crawling thug with the morals of a weasel on speed.”

A few years later, Agnew asked if his repayment of the bribes could be treated as tax-deductible. That request was denied.
Agnew also claimed, without evidence, that Nixon’s chief of staff suggested to Agnew that if he didn’t resign he would be assassinated.
