I will not read, peer review, or write tenure & promotion letters based on any work of scholarship that contains any AI-assisted writing. None! Don’t fuck with me on this question.
So, you disclose yr AI use to a publisher. They decide it’s w/in the bounds of acceptability. Your manuscript is invited, peer reviewed, board approved, published—w/ your use now disclosed in your acknowledgments. All above board, it seems. But what do yr readers think? Colleagues? T&P committee?

This is a nigh religious belief at this point: "AI will save us all." It can be literally supernatural, as in "AI" will become an actual god, or it can be laundered through the language of finance: "AI will make big companies rich." But it's faith-based in either case.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang was reportedly “targeted” by a suspected Chinese spy whose Singapore-based firm bought billions in AI chips.

Huang and NVIDIA’s board owe Congress answers.

And we must pass bipartisan legislation to keep our advanced AI technology out of China’s hands.

So, if I search my soul, like really deep down, my objection to AI is not based primarily on environmental concerns. It’s based on the integrity of my profession. But certainly, AI is generally evil and pointless and destructive. I don’t use it.

if AI could be used as a tool to ASSIST in human creativity it would be different. but AI is inherently a tool that STEALS from hardworking people. it takes their past work, plagiarizes it, and then STEALS their chances of getting future work based on what it's already taken.

it is evil.

It's funny how itchio doesn't exist when games media is choosing their GOTYs, when countless cool jams are happening or even when they add AI filters... It's just something they dunk on based on tweets going around.

Earlier this year, Princeton was forced to end its 133-year honor code tradition of unproctored exams due to rampant AI-based cheating. This does not seem to have given the administration the slightest pause.
Just got an email announcing that Princeton is offering ChatGPT accounts to all undergrads next semester.

Looking forward to other helpful innovations lIke giving them unlimited heroin or free handguns

Inspired by recent political posts (such as those from 'Lula's army'), I drew this up (Inkscape, not AI) to remind us how to promote science, build trust, communicate with today's tools & cut the crap.
It's just acknowledging fact-based, evidence-supported reality.
We *can* improve the signal!

It predicts!! It predicts what an AI would say based mostly on science fiction. It's like Akinator.
