Technology staff outlined steps to strengthen cybersecurity, rolled out more than 500 Chromebooks for elementary grades, launched a Chromebook-damage agreement, and described a draft AI acceptable-use policy that will be developed by an AI task force and returned to the board.

The committee approved Draft 2 of the Utah Instructional Technology and Artificial Intelligence model policy and implementation resource for LEAs, emphasizing transparency (metadata/digital-tool lists), required classroom disclosures, and a default policy if an LEA lacks a local policy.

At the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek board meeting, parent Heather Rashevsky urged a district-wide, evidence-based review of Chromebook use in grades K–8, requested student screen-time data and off-task patterns, and recommended limits on student access to generative AI, citing Ohio House Bill 96.

The county reported offsite backups and a recent contained incident; IT said multifactor authentication is in use in places and expansion is planned. On artificial intelligence, staff said the county currently blocks public AI platforms and will consider an internal committee to develop an AI policy, citing data‑privacy concerns.
