These were improved Hiryu carriers. They were quintessential japanese designs, with a smaller airgroup than their American counterparts. Other than the Shokaku class carriers, the Japanese thought these smaller ships would be able to be built in time to contribute to the war.

My Sister and brother have my fathers jackets and medals. 15th Airforce, 459th airgroup 757th squadron, flew 17 missions June 21, 1944 thru August when shot down after bombing Toulon France Naval base, crash landed in Barcelona Spain with 2 crew KIA copilot shot through wrists. Father was bombardier

Yeah, but if the basic premise doesn't work, like why would an admiral not share her plans with her airgroup commander, it's hard to make much out of the character growth. It's more like growing a 3rd thumb, for me, than growing up. It just isnt something i can suspend disbelief on.

There is nothing wrong with QE and PoW. In terms of airgroup and sortie generation capability they are world leading. Issues are:-
Successive fucking governments drip feeding F35B.
Successive fucking governments letting the RAF get involved in carrier aviation.
Fail fast track UAV AEW and AAR.

There is nothing wrong with QE and PoW. In terms of airgroup and sortie generation capability they are world leading. Issues are:-

Like Alex says a full airgroup makes for a tight fit on CdG so this is giving more space, flexibility for more ease of operations, endurance, and UAVs in due course. Two half-sized ships for the same budget would be very compromised. The medium carrier has always been something of a chimera.

Vertical landings for the vehicles embarked (USN Type A, B, & C V/STOLs). Most of the airgroup would have been Type A (utility) for ASW/AEW/Missileer missions (think Grumman 698 or MDD 260).

Radiant Logistics (NYSE American: RLGT) has acquired Universal Logistics, a Texas-based company operating under its Airgroup brand since 2001. Universal, founded in 1999, specializes in time-sensitive domestic and international air and ocean freight services for the oilfield services and HVAC industries from its Houston operations. The acquisition follows Radiant's recent strategic moves, including the purchases of Viking Logistics in April 2024 and Foundation Logistics and Services in September 2024. Post-acquisition, Universal will initially continue operating under the Airgroup brand before transitioning to the Radiant brand during 2025, integrating with existing Company-owned operations in Houston.
