The first Saskatchewan Dash 8-400 has arrived in Abbotsford where it will be converted into an airtanker. The province placed an order for 4 airtankers this year, including two multi role, capable of responding as an airtanker plus transporting passengers, cargo and critically ill patients.

A CAL FIRE C-130H airtanker is now positioned at Fresno Air Attack Base. Dropping up to 4,000 gallons of retardant the C130 plays a critical role in keeping wildfires small.
Since assigned to Fresno on May 5, it's been to seven fires, dropping 30,500 gallons of retardant.

the story ends pretty much only a year later in 2015, with the company moving on to an eyebrow-raising and insane scheme to - you guessed it - license and manufacture the Russian Beriev Be-200 airtanker in Colorado!
This does not seem to have come to pass..
