One of the best parts of #AIX26 is just waking the halls, stopping at what looks cool.
You know what’s cool? Aircraft illuminated panels. Even cooler is when they’re all on display in one place wired up to buttons to toggle them on. Thanks for putting up with me, Luminator Aerosoace. #AvGeek

Greetings from the final #AIX26 day! Starting with Boeing, showing a concept for a lavatory sized private space for work or calls. It’s sound dampened for privacy (and prevent that noise from disrupting passengers) and is surprisingly effective. Airlines would have to find space for it, though.

Something actually useful and real about in-flight Wi-Fi at #AIX26 that isn’t AI slop.
If you accidentally close the airline’s captive Wi-Fi portal it’s very difficult to get it back. SES says it’s working with Google/Android to create a persistent tab so that the airline’s portal can’t be closed.

Something actually useful and real about in-flight Wi-Fi at #AIX26 that isn’t AI slop.

8 months after the east coast long-distance RFP I wrote about, @amtrak.com has finally made public its intent to overhaul the nationwide long distance fleet. The design closely mirrors what what we saw here, with the addition of sleeper cars. Supplier selected end of 2027

Meanwhile, at the Burrana #AIX26 stand…how about an E Ink display in the seatback? It can display one static color image every 15 seconds. Maybe it’s an ad. Maybe the safety card. Maybe the flight map. It’ll probably be an ad.

Meanwhile, its economy seats are coming soon to 2 US airlines on E175 and CRJ family. That’s huge deal for them.

They’re seeing a 79% engagement rate with screens, and a 96% first attempt success rate with Bluetooth headphones. That’s an interesting stat.
