Looks like Jersey Gov has decided to diverge from AMLD6, despite years of saying they were going to follow the EU's approach. The consultation proposes a legit interest test that differs significantly from AMLD6, and follows the more restrictive approach by the Overseas Territories.

Portugal is shifting to legitimate interest access to its beneficial ownership register, following the final approval of legislative amendments by the country's president on 17 October 2025

Adding a note here that the Irish Government acted *very* quickly to restrict access by civil society and journalists to beneficial ownership info after the CJEU judgement, but is now dragging its feet on re-enabling this legitimate interest access as provided for by AMLD6

Unclear why access to beneficial owner of company remains so restricted (most likely unlawful given both the deadlines for implementing these parts of AMLD6 have now passed).

The CJEU judgement recognised that journalists and civil society organisations have an important role to play in combatting money laundering and its predicate offences. The new AMLD6 set deadlines of 2025 and 2026 for the national governments to restore this access.
