I had the great pleasure of presenting a scroll to the Army Navy Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) Sir Winston Churchill Unit #3!

In the armed forces, they served Canada admirably. Now, as veterans, they continue to contribute in numerous meaningful ways to the community.

Returning to Vancouver, John took over G.B. Simon Sporting Goods. His post-war career included watchmaking & gunsmithing. He was a Chinese United Church steward & elder and sang in the choir. When the Legion rejected the Chinese vets' request for a branch, they formed ANAVETS Pacific Unit No. 280.

2/3…many in our community, particularly for St. John Ambulance BC/Yukon and the ANAVETS Pacific Unit 280, and most recently was among the 350+ pipers at the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. Bravo Zulu! A truly proud Mom moment!

The Anavets Unit 222 Prince Albert and Royal Canadian Legion #2 will be holding the annual Decoration Day Ceremony on June 8th at 1:00 pm at the South Hill Cemetery. This ceremony honours all who gave their lives and have been laid to rest.

The Raiders battled back from seven points down in the fourth quarter to defeat the Dakota Lancers 22-17 to capture the ANAVETS Bowl on Thursday at Princess Auto Stadium. Thursday night’s victory came in a rematch of last year’s final, ending the Lancers’ run after back-to-back titles.

After losing the 1962 election, Douglas returned to law. He was active in the community with ANAVETS, SUCCESS, and the VSO. In 1988, he returned to his father's Guangdong birthplace remarking, "I felt that I was on a pilgrimage for him." Jung was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1990.
