The War Memorial says changing the Anzac Day Dawn Service is up to the ACT RSL, not it. The Rationalist Society wants the Memorial to take responsibility for its religious content. Its petition has 2,000+ signatures. #auspol

was thinking of how insidious the gradual reframing of remembrance day/anzac day being about "sacrifice" for a war as pointless as ww1 was, then it occurred to me it's in the same context as more recent pointless wars like Iraq and Afghanistan whose planners are still walking around

I love a public holiday but a day off for the Melbourne Cup is a joke. Scrap it. Make Remembrance Day our November holiday instead. It’s a far more meaningful day of reflection than the jingoistic ANZAC Day (scrap that one too). We really need to reallocate and reassign all public holidays.
