Some Torii gates from one of our many walks / hikes in Japan last fall.

As we often do, we visited a less-famous, less-crowded site rather than the #instafamous one; this is part of the #Togakushi shrine circuit, in Nagano.

The cranes in particular are popular/prevalent around Hiroshima as a tribute to and continuation of a project by Sadako Sasaki, who died of cancer caused by radiation from the bomb.
Today, they are worldwide symbols of peace and resilience.
