APAP is also in a ridiculous number of OTC products, and none of them have warnings about mixing them. Got the flu? Has anyone ever told you not to take Tylenol and NyQuil on the same day unless you keep a running log of your APAP dose? If someone ever has, I bet it was a disabled person.

before Tylenol (APAP) they had Antifebrin (acetanil) which your body would just metabolise into APAP but it was way more toxic so when they figured out that it was basically just an APAP prodrug and that in small enough doses APAP was reasonably safe they stopped making it

this clinician, who was a trained medical researcher & more importantly read 19th century academic german fluently, realized that the basis for rejecting APAP out of hand was flimsy, did trials on better models, and found the risks we now understand APAP to have

Don't EVEN get me started on APAP combo pills. Enough studies showing it's not a potentiator after all finally forced a lot of doctors to admit they were prescribing them because they were, in fact, treating the APAP as an "anti-abuse" mechanism.

Apparently, there's a new product in the pharmacy.
PainQuil. It's 1000mg APAP per 30mL in a 10% alcohol solution.
If I'm being frank, APAP is actually one of the few substances I outright want banned, especially in a liquid format that mixes a hepatoxic medicament with alcohol. Good lord.

Yet another reason why I'm furious at the War On (Some) Drugs and the demonization of opiates, because something like oxycodone without APAP (or a transdermal fenranyl patch for severe pain) is SO MUCH SAFER *and* much more effective to use for postsurgical pain than APAP

before I got my APAP a few years ago my ENT proactively told me *not* to do this because apparently it’s very bad for you 😬
