Also very happy to see the original building and its mosaics from the 1940s WPA work are still intact. It'll soon be the rental car center.

Every time I hear someone from Riyadh Air talk about how future-forward they're going to be as an airline I roll my eyes a little. Today's example is plans for "3D body scanning to get much more accurate measurements" for front-line uniforms.

He says the company has 75 employees working f/t in the segment. Wants to add virtual concierge for all pax eventually.

Anecdote about an exec with a list of 155 IT systems in the airline but didn't know what they did, so put it into ChatGPT and asked it which ones were really needed. Got the answer that only 8 were useful, which he knows is wrong, but still impressed that it had a quick answer. 🤯

Interesting follow-up on this issue at #APEXEXPO today, where a different Breeze exec basically parroted Neeleman's talking points about improved fleet efficiency rather than reducing absolute emissions per flight or passenger-mile.

Same exec used to work at UA and was very pro-SAF. 🤔

Asked Rousseau about GenAI and lawsuit when it's bot screwed up and AC disavowed the error:
GenAI will get better at solving those things. But mistakes are made. I'll live with that, as long as it's not too damaging, because I know the greater good will help a lot more customers.

Riyadh Air is talking about its interior configuration, particularly around the Astrova IFE experience in partnership with Panasonic Avionics. Among the interesting bits, now wireless charging for devices on board; says the tech isn't mature enough. Also, no handset controllers. #APEXEXPO #paxex

I'm not a tech guy, but I can see the benefits of small steps we've made so far, and just how quickly it leads to transformation. And that's where the world is headed, right? We don't have time to study something for a year or two.

Notes that Oman Air does not want to be a major sixth freedom player (i.e. connecting traffic like EK/QR). "We have no intention of trying to be another one of those big guys with 200-300 aircraft. I think that space in the Middle East is well and truly spoken for."

Re inflight internet, Rousseau expects to be at 80% equipped with "good WiFi" by Q3 2025, close to 100% by EOY.
