I mean, moving the APVMA to a McDonalds in Armidale was a master stroke.
Coalition wants to 'migrate' public servants to the regions.

Didn't Stalin do that to people he didn't like?

It’s a very real reason you need to stop buying these products and demand that the APVMA bans their sale to home consumers.

APVMA moved into an Armidale building in which it was said Joyce had some interest, but that was surely scuttlebutt.

BTW, we first posted about APVMA and dimethoate way back in...

"The Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has today certified that it is in the public interest for chemical products containing any second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARS) to be declared restricted chemical products(RCPs)"

Congrats to all who worked for this🎉

Could the APVMA be any more clear how they view scientific evidence of rodenticide poisoning of our wildlife? Time to ditch our regulator? #APVMA

It bothers me so much that every building I encounter has rodenticides outside them. The bait in these boxes out doors will more than likely spread to the food chain. We need to do so much better and ban second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). Do better APVMA!!

APVMA wants Queensland sugar cane farmers to wind up their use of the herbicide paraquat within 2yrs. Farmers have no immediate alternative. Studies suggest it increases the risk of Parkinson's disease but APVMA did not find evidence in its review. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...
Sugarcane farmers question APVMA paraquat ban
Sugarcane farmers have two years to stop using controversial herbicide paraquat, despite the chemical regulator allowing its use on most boardacre crops.

Independent Senator David Pocock has used support from the Greens and the Coalition to launch an inquiry into the regulator's decision to allow the continued use of the controversial weedkiller.

**Major development**

In Nov 2025, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority granted the #salmon industry in #Tasmania permission to use the antibiotic Florfenicol to treat diseased salmon

APVMA is now proposing to suspend this permit #politas

Typical fart in a thought bubble from the LNP.

Didn't learn from the APVMA debacle.
No consideration that public servants' spouses/partners may not find it easy to just drop a city career and pick up a new regional job.

Another example of how horribly bad they are at policy. #ausvotes #auspol

Second generation rodenticides are abominable. They kill many non-target native species & hence can also be a disaster for ecosystems.

APVMA, the “independent regulator” feels the heat. When you’ve got them by the balls, their hearts and minds soon follow.
Better late than never. After my question to the Ag Minister on Monday, the regulator finally recognises the risk salmon companies are putting on the Tas environment and community. Removing the approval is good, but the companies still need to clean up their act. #politas #auspol

So apparently the APVMA is supposed to release the recommendations of their review into rodenticides in Australia this month (only a few days left). It is over a year late and we still have no indication if they will do anything.
Rat poison is a disaster for our wildlife.

The APVMA is proposing to raise how much of the so-called "forever chemical" residue is legally allowed on berries sold in Australia, angering anti-pesticide campaigners.

Meanwhile, the APVMA is *still* reviewing the use of the dangerous insecticide fipronil in Australia. An outcome is now forecast for 2026, a quarter of a century since it commenced its review in 2002. Is this even a serious organisation?

Given that the salmon industry donates $$$ to governments, I can’t see any real reform coming .

“The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has given the salmon industry until March 2 to prove it can meet trade criteria otherwise its licence will be revoked.”

The Coalition has tried this before. The most infamous example was Barnaby Joyce moving APVMA from Canberra to Armidale. It cost $25m, was opposed by stakeholders, resulted in the loss of most staff & failed commissioned cost-benefit analyses
