Despicable censorship by AQS.
My quilt about women’s reproductive rights has been banned from all American Quilters Society shows this year. It’s been part of a traveling show with SAQA. My artist statement is too long for here. It’s on my website: laurashaw.net/quilts#/your-mother

Despicable censorship by AQS.
Mini project #2 from the AQS new member box. Both were sponsored by accuquilt and Northcott. I love Northcott fabric! Using the precut pieces does save time. Now I need to decide what to do with this cool orphan block.

i've submitted this quilt to pnqe, i hope it gets in! i've been meaning to submit it to more shows. rejected from quiltcon 2025, too small for most aqs shows (but also fuck aqs for censoring), idk idk
this quilt is now WELL AND TRULY FINISHED besides a label and hanging sleeve, my friends

One of the quilt guilds at the AQS quilt show had several sewing machines set up and had preped kits to make fidget mats. I had a lot of fun pitching in for their service project. I hope it goes to someone who can enjoy it in good health.

Woo hoo!! Great news! The SAQA board voted unanimously to pull the entire show out of AQS (see previous post for details)
And the International Quilt Museum has acquired my quilt for their permanent collection!
