Twice in a week to start the year flight crews have behaved like total champs and saved lives by doing their jobs well after somebody else screwed up. Well done to the pilots and the cabin crew on AS1282.

Boeing 737 Max at this point seems like a cursed plane. Gotta sage the assembly line, exorcise the lead designer, something must be done. I’m not flying it until they get the demons out

United confirms it found the loose bolts on a door plug bracket during preliminary inspections.

Still unclear:
Who is installs those (Boeing or Spirit Aerosystems)?
Were they loose at delivery or have they come loose during operations?

What are the Alaska Airlines inspectors looking FOR if the FAA has not yet found the AS1282 door plug and therefore cannot know with any level of certainty exactly what failed?

An Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 N704AL suffered a decompression event tonight on departure from PDX as AS1282.

The aft "plug" exit on the port side (at seat 26A) blew out during ascent.

I asked the FAA to clarify what "noted findings with bolts during the maintenance inspections" means. It declined.

And it says the 900ERs get to keep flying while awaiting inspection because they've been OK for so long. Further implies something about the MAX causing the trouble. #AvGeek #AS1282

The Air Current reporting that United has found multiple planes with loose bolts on the door plug locking mechanism. This is not good for Boeing and Spirit Aerosystems.

I can somewhat understand some people wanting to make #AS1282 a(nother) indictment of Boeing and the MAX. But...

If it is tied to the door/plug, would it not also apply to the same design on the 900/900ER, now 20ish years in service?

The FAA will order an emergency inspection of 171 MAX 9 aircraft following the #AS1282 incident. The agency expects the work to take 4-8 hours per plane.

An interesting observation in the MAX 9 AD: There is no mention of any HW costs for repair nor actions if an adverse condition is discovered in the inspection. This suggests Boeing/FAA believe the problem is likely on installation, not construction/materials.

I don't have a photo of the interior when it is just regular seats because, well, it just looks like a normal sidewall and seats. Slightly different spacing between the windows is the only tell.
