OP said "attack him with SAMs" so the critique comment is correct. You'd either attack with ASMs or ballistic missiles, assuming Iranians don't have subs. You defend ASMs with SAMs.

It's a fine point, but if you're "in the biz" it makes your head hurt when you read it. (worked at RTX)

AHHH ASMs make a lot more sense, i was thinking like, standoff range anti air work for some reason

Time for some fun self-reflection to share with the class 🤭
It's been a great year of conferences, and another to come!

7 meter long weapons bay with 2 smaller ones side by side so whatever it carries is big. Likely ASMs and their version of the malice which I think they have now?

Keep learning with ASMS!

Four online short courses this December cover LC-MS/MS, troubleshooting, untargeted metabolomics, and high-resolution MS.

Advance registration ends Nov. 13. Fees increase $50 afterward!

invading the eastern seaboard with just paratroopers + air assets + bulk of ground vehicles being BTR-80As before being chased away from DC, NYC, with navy battles like no one has ASMs + having enough manpower left to invade and occupy all of continental europe, all this by a non-governmental force

My first thought was 100% "I wonder if it's a stealthy AWACS?" Which obviously doesn't rule out also carrying a payload of ASMs, but in such a big bird there's probably room for a very big AESA array.

I wish I could say my store manager sucked and was evil but all of the awful decisions are from higher up. Literally all of them. And half of them are being selectively applied. Like, some Daiso stores in our district get to keep their self checkout. We don't. I bet other stores can hire ASMs too.

I wish the creator made more videos about this idea, because it poses so many interesting worldubilding questions.

The big one being: How does the scientific understanding of the afterlife continue to impact the culture? Do ASMs and the Internet fuel the emergence of a new religion?
October 24, 2026 at 4:03 AM
Spirits in this universe are the souls of the dead, and FORMA effectively manages the afterlife as an ecosystem. I imagine that pisses off religious institutions to no end, but do ASMs get good enough to have complex discussions with deceased loved ones? Does that lead to a Spirit Rights Movement?

Loving the social media takeover by our ASMs/Teaching professors employed on contracts. I feel for them! 💔 The university and province are shortsighted in view of all that we do and all that the job entails
Hi everyone! I’m taking over MUNFA’s social media today to share a little about my experiences as a contract academic at Memorial University.

I’m Dr. Katherine Morton Richards, although a lot of my friends and family call me Charlotte (long story!)

Congrats to our undergrad researchers Margot and Allen for successfully presenting at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Symposium last week 🥳🥳 They shared their excellent research experiences in the Li Lab and their participation in ASMS 2026 conference this past summer 💯💯💯

I find asms func names hard to parse, but I do like the idea of abbreviation. Moving to different 64 registers isn't the hard part, it's the annoyance of...apparently...having to use all registers just to print a message.

I think I may find a way NOT to do that, as that doesn't seem efficient.

Effectively, our contracts are anchored to teaching needs and do not include research or service and we are paid on a different (and capped lower) scale than permanent ASMs.

The Kikimora Light Cruiser I technically designed as a foil for this thing, being smaller, faster, and chock full of ASMs to give bigger Imperial ships a hard time.

“Why did we put some ancient ASMs in the bed of hiluxes instead of mounting them to the ship directly or at least a real combat vehicle?

For the memes. Obviously. It’s way funnier to pop battleships this way.”
October 14, 2026 at 3:34 PM
It's not just the high mass. There's very little in a cruise ship worth hitting. If you yeet a shell into the buffet it will make a very big, very useless hole.

Meanwhile you've covered the cruise ship in ASMs that will crack the mighty Yamato in half at the keel.

Anyway just about the only fundamental unanswered question this scenario is which is the most terrifying: being in the Regina Marina facing SSKs and ASMs, being in the Luftwaffe vs Rafales and Flankers, or being in the Afrika Korps and actually seeing your enemy long enough to realize you're toast.

Loved the book and want to get a copy for my shelf but this was also my gripe. ASMs have come a long way but an aircraft developed for endurance with the missiles to match will most of the time be preferable. FA-XX with JASSM-ER will win out in the end.
