Dolores Huerta is an American labor leader and a feminist activist. She worked for several years with the Community Service Organization. Later, she co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with fellow activists Cesar Chavez and Gilbert Padilla. Eventually, it merged with AWOC to become UFW.

the Delano grape strike was not started by Cesar Chavez. He was persuaded to join by Larry Itiong and AWOC. Then Cesar Chavez deified himself and turned the attention to the movement to a celebrity treatment opportunity. The real work was all lead by Huerta, Itlion, Vera Cruz, and the workers.

And it's even possible to be AWOC with kids in your life. If your child has severe mental health challenges or learning disabilities for eg, the traditional support isn't there. And even if they are fine and dandy, if they only come back from Australia once ever two years, you're effectively AWOC

I might catch a block for this, but there were most definitely Mexican flags flown in the AWOC & NFWA march from Delano to the CA State Capitol in Sacramento, 4/10/1966.
