I was at AWP17 trying to jumpstart my indie press Barnacle Mountain (which is long since dormant). I also got to meet lots of good milvet writing folks, and reconnect with old classmates.

AWP17 was the last time war-writing had a significant AWP presence; next year at Tampa was OK but it was a rapid decline thereafter. I think only Brian Turner and Jehanne Dubrow are presenting at AWP26--neither on war-related subjects. WLA18 was the last big gathering of the war-writing tribe iirc.
