I agree that this behavior should be specified in abuild, not in the go package's go.env.
With that said, in general in Alpine, we want all binaries on the system to have provenance traceable back to an apk, so that is probably the rationale behind doing it here.

Yes, that is why I propose some sort of package that overrides go.env when abuild is installed. It is probably the easiest path to "fix" this, since most end users won't be using abuild, and if they are, they can just mask the override package.

Every dining haul works I've seen with abuild like that always uses amount of hot sauce a chicken wing can physically hold, then some extreme to make it a soup.

100% the right abuild behavior, for sure, but in the go package it changes end-user settings.
I assume that policy doesn't extend to userspace-downloaded binaries, or rustup wouldn't be packaged, no?

I'm hoping to actually make my own and others' experience better by doing things the right way with abuild (and enough resources to run it) rather than hacking together from-source packages, getting some of the application sw I want packaged properly for Alpine.
