As a reviewer I very much agree with this - I'm also getting inundated.
But as an editor I'm also sending out review requests which are being mostly rejected. And as an author papers are taking longer & longer to publish b/c of a lack of reviewers.
A broken model? #AcademicSky #AcademicPublishing
The level of review requests is reaching new levels of ridiculousness - it's now at least one a day, if not more, often with a flurry on the weekends. This is completely unsustainable. Maybe we need to declare 2027 the year of NO PUBLICATIONS!

I’ve got a paper in proof stage currently, and the journal has taken our figures and seem to have put them though an AI pipeline to “make them adhere to journal style”. Looks worse and the icons I made myself now have an AI sheen. Is this what journals do now? 😱 #academia #academicpublishing
