Committee flags DPI and BIPOC seats for formal vote after members debate feasibility
Members urged inclusion of a deaf-parented interpreter (DPI) seat and at least one BIPOC interpreter seat; others warned that too many specific required identities could make filling vacancies difficult and the items were starred for a future vote.

It's a shame that this accessibility issue I opened for SwiftUI Grids in 2022 is still an issue.

It's annoying to have to create an accessibilityRepresentation for a standard UI element.

When I have time to talk about accessibility + SwiftUI, it’s usually just a brief introduction to the basic modifiers – accessibiltyLabel, accessibilityRepresentation, etc. Again, mostly to show them that they exist and give them a rough idea of what they do

There’s definitely room for growth here

Learnable, Memorable, Accessible
Creating custom controls is something that’s just flat out fun. But, I believe, there’s an objectively right way to do it.

I've been experimenting with accessibilityRepresentation for this use case and it seems to be working well.

I created feedback two years ago about how VoiceOver does not interact properly with SwiftUI Grids.

I've been getting around this by providing an accessibilityRepresentation for the Grid's contents.

The problem is that workaround doesn't work with widgets. So my VoiceOver support for them suffers.

.accessibilityRepresentation() goes a long way toward matching the accessibility behavior of a native component in a custom view.

VoiceOver is smart, but it isn’t going infer anything useful from a fancy collection of unexplained views.

This is where the accessibilityRepresentation modifier comes in really useful.

Advanced Accessibility in SwiftUI: Using accessibilityRepresentation to help the screenreader

In some situations, you might have a really complicated UI, such as a stylised timer element which graphically ticks down.

Sometimes we come up with crazy fancy controls that are very inaccessible. We can try making it accessible here and there or we can as well just replace them with something very simple yet completely accessible. Here comes `accessibilityRepresentation` in play

You build a visually custom UI component, but want to copy accessibility behaviour from another view? In this case, you can use accessibilityRepresentation and provide a view builder closure to build a view that will be the source of accessibility presentation.
