Star of the day: Acrux, lovely hot blue star in the Southern Cross; actually a pair of stars one 25,000 times brighter, the other 16,000 times brighter than the Sun.

Acrux doesn't have a day & night cycle, but Varglots seem to be active from around noon to 1am on the planetary clock. Varglots that have lived outside of Acrux (such as in zoos on other planets) become mostly nocturnal, as they prefer the dark.

Acrux is a multi-star system, and at this scale you can actually see two components! The main one (big, above) has three stars: Acrux Aa, Acrux Ab, and Acrux B. The other (Acrux C) also has three stars, one of them a red dwarf. The AB and C combined system has an orbital period of around 120k years🔭
