Il primo allevamento di polpi al mondo richiederebbe già all’avvio 28.000 tonnellate di pesce selvatico per produrre 3.000 tonnellate di carne di polpo. Un banco di numerosi piccoli pesci selvatici che nuotano insieme. Si legge: 2. ciò equivarrebbe a due miliardi di pesci usati per produrre mangime, destinati ad arrivare all’impressionante numero di sette miliardi entro il 2040 Un pescatore rema su una piccola imbarcazione. Si legge: 3. Il mangime per i polpi verrebbe probabilmente prodotto sfruttando aree di pesca in Africa occidentale, Sud America e nel Sud-est asiatico. Ciò metterebbe a rischio i mezzi di sostentamento e la sicurezza alimentare di comunità costiere già vulnerabili.
