Really LOVE this quilt by the late Gerstine Scott: it is comprised of neckties and fabrics she fashioned in the manner of neckties! Such elegant creativity! #RoutedWest @bampfa.bsky.social #AfricanAmericanQuilts

The delightful and talented Ora Clay and her quilt that is part of the “Routed West” Black Quilting exhibit that is now open at BAMPFA in Berkeley, CA. Ms. Clay — a legendary quilter in NorCal— titled her work, “My Migration.” This photo shows her description of the work, which was originated by her late Mom; it now depicts images of a train, an Alabama cotton farm, and other aspects of Ms. Clay’s family journey from the Deep South to NorCal.
