New release 📚 Afropean Biblical Studies, by Olabisi Obamakin 🌍

In this book, Obamakin constructs a Nigerian/British women’s hermeneutic that reshapes how we read the New Testament, blending feminist, postcolonial, and decolonial approaches.

Practicing my German with this Afropean gem: 'Die Sonne, so Strahlend und Schwarz' by Chantal-Fleur Sandjon. A coming of age story in which each chapter is a poem. Main character Nova is a young Afrogerman girl trying to start over after traumatic events. 📚📚📚📚 out 5. Hope it gets translated.

A few more books I was able to find in Lisbon. (I saw someone reading *Afropean* back in 2021 outside Chelsea Marker & have been meaning to pick it up & I’ve been translating Aleixo for a few years now.) I mailed everything back so fingers crossed they all arrive!

For 20 years, Black British photographer Johny Pitts has been travelling around Europe with a camera and a question: what does it mean to be Black and European?

"Black Bricolage" spans the continent – Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, Brussels – capturing the lives that rarely make the front page.

A key piece of German remembrance culture is the erasure of longer histories of imperialism & white supremacy in Germany and Europe at large. On this, I'd recommend:

Johnny Pitts' "Afropean": www.penguin.co.uk/books/300186...

Hans Kundnani's "Eurowhiteness": www.hurstpublishers.com/book/eurowhi...
I've had a lot of convos w/ folks confused about the crackdown in Germany against the most basic support for Palestinians. This is deeply tied to Germany's Holocaust remembrance culture, which happens to be something I study. Here's a thread of resources in English for those who want to learn. 1/
