I take PrEP and, as a millennial who was born into era of the 1980s AIDS crisis, this stuff is a honestly a miracle. Every sexually active person should have access to some form of PrEP
A generic, injectable lenacapavir PrEP that protects people from HIV infection for 6 months has received FDA approval and is slated to sell for $40 a year--comparable to pricing of oral PrEP. @science.org

My theory is that Save a Secret For The Moon by The Magnetic Fields is about being in gay love and not being able to tell anyone, it was written during the era of AIDS activism and the line “I know all the saddest people, most of them are dead now”

I feel that.

‘With visual aids, prepared in advance, lest anyone say “Surely this was some mistake!” (It was some mistake, but, like so many Trump-era mistakes, it was a mistake that had been planned.)’

O Serra era da linha privatista do FHC, mas ficou marcado positivamente pelos genéricos e pelo combate à AIDS, ótimos resultados para o país na saúde nestes pontos.

Review: RENT, Tom Stoppard Theatre ★★★★

Gaten Matarazzo’s West End debut movingly honours Larson’s AIDS-era New York and its community.

I'm glad the yutes didn't live through any of the AIDS era, including the early years of HAART, but this kind of purity politics was toxic when people started dying for real.

I remember the hippie era aunt of my friend sitting Julie & me down, expressing her sadness that we younger folk would never enjoy the free sexual expression she'd had, bc of AIDS.

This, about 1982, maybe. Julie 14, I 16.

I think about that often. I even remember where we 3 were sitting.

Torn up enough that I have a couple typos in the alt text, but whatever.

I will always hold this movie close in my heart, because it helped me to get through the anxiety of the AIDS era.

Sem contar a posição social da parada, o canal falava muito abertamente sobre AIDS e tal.

Mas assim, quem pegou antes de mim vai dizer que era ainda melhor antes então provavelmente pode ser isso mesmo 🥶

The Quilter, the Elder, the Survivor: Harvey Fierstein After Broadway’s Applause
Harvey Fierstein’s story does not end with Broadway applause. In this final post of the series, I look at the quilter, elder, survivor, and artist who kept creating after addiction, suicidality, AIDS-era grief, and decades in the spotlight. His later life shows that aging is not an epilogue, and survival can still produce new work, new forms, and new reasons to remain visible.

I’m down 57 lbs since 7/4 strokes & Dr gives me food passes now. If it only tasted good. I look like late stage cancer patient & hate it. Surviving AIDS era, I felt id rather swing to higher end than lower on chart. I dont get folks wanting Ozempic face/vulva. Well, don’t get vulva at all but y’know

Glad you got to tell Sigourney. It was the era of AIDS epidemic w/o medz and the stigma. Fun to watch Patrick Stewart in a gay roll. Happy ending where love rules.

While millions knew Sir Patrick Stewart through Star Trek, many LGBTQ+ audiences also remember him for his role in the landmark 1995 AIDS-era comedy-drama Jeffrey.

an inspiring day for San Francisco today - officially proclaimed as "Dr. Marcus Conant Day"! He was a superhero for the AIDS patients of that pre-ART era.

The heartaches of those days were deep. Here, I share mine. ludwiglinmd.substack.com/p/lost-first...

Both films came out during the Satanic Panic era. Where a lot of people were being persecuted for being 'unchristian' music, books, d&d all faced heavy bans and criticism. Queer people especially faced hardship as the aids epidemic was beginning to ramp up as well. And Regan.

That Marcy Kaptur?

The Marcy Kaptur who *assisted the GOP* in re-enacting AIDS Crisis era persecution?

Tell us more about how helping the GOP harm people is protecting those people from it.

Remind me again how this isn't just Thatcherite AIDS-era Sector 28 homophobia. This is Norman Tebbit growling about 'shirt-lifters' while his pals like Cyril Smith raped scored of little kids.

Memory not documentation - Reagan era was AIDS focused so most of what was discussed was through that lens. Ryan White's death moved it from "gay plague" to disease that affected everyone. I'd say it wasn't until 1990s elected D's in general were ok with gay people (at least lip service).
