We mourn the passing of legendary waterman Clyde Aikau, brother of Eddie Aikau. We are sending much love and support to the Aikau ohana and the Hawaiian surf community who knew him. Clyde will be deeply missed. #PaddleOut 🌈🏝️🌺🌊🏄🤙💔

I walked around the entire arena to make sure there was an Eddie Aikau poster. When Cam was a kid he had an "Eddie would go" shirt and he wore it all the time

Eddie Aikau, a legendary Hawaiian lifeguard and big-wave surfer, vanished on March 17, 1978, while attempting to paddle for help after the Hōkūleʻa voyaging canoe capsized. As Waimea Bay's first official lifeguard, he saved over 500 people famously losing zero lives on his watch during his tenure.
