Southern Ontario and the Sudbury area are being hit hard by fine PM associated with wildfire smoke.
CR Boxes and HEPA air cleaners will lower levels in homes. N95 respirators will help while outdoors. More information: 👇

Air quality has become one of my special interests and after doing a deep dive into information about it, I’ve only gotten more and more frustrated how little public education or urgency there is. I use the EPA’s AirNow app but any warnings we do get is paltry at best. I’ll thread some recs below 👇

i checked the airnow dot gov site and looked at the fire map and apparently there are a lot of fires in a lot of states

For anyone tracking the LA fires, I have found AirNow really useful, as it shows updated locations of the actual burn area and air quality in the same map:

does anyone in #Oakland/#SanFrancisco/#BayArea know why the air is so bad today? (PurpleAir has us listed as in the orange-to-red, although AirNow lists us as in the yellow.)

I do not know why the private Purple Air website that wants to sell you stuff has a more alarming map than the EPA AirNow.gov site. But AirNow sensors are calibrated & the EPA shows you their data
